Matt: Hannah, you sit down in that chair right now!
Hannah: I cant. Im fixin my wedgie right now!
After getting gas in the car, I was trying to make it a funny experience because the girls hate getting gas for some reason.
Me: The car says Thank you so much for feeding me! He was so hungry!
Leah: The car doesnt talk, mommy.
Ill add more later - but I gotta run to an eye appointment! Just didnt want to forget those since they grow up so fast!

Hand Foot Mouth
Leah is finally all better after this little virus hit our household, and I am happy to say that no one else got it. (I think we are in the clear now). She had horrible blisters all down her throat and in her mouth and did not eat hardly anything for a week. her little voice is still very pitiful but she ate a ton once she felt better. Her Aunt Lala gave her some cheerios and had to wait about an hour for them to soak and get really soft so Leah would eat them. Then Leah told us "we got to wait and make it reeaaaalll soft so it wont hurt my mouth" about everything she ate. She inhaled 4 bowls of those cheerios
I am including some gross pictures for those parents who have children who may get this. And here are some hints. Mylanta makes a good little popsicle and helps the blisters - but I just let Leah lick a little bit of it since I didnt really want to give her a full dose. I put some Benadryl in there too. A little popsicle cocktail if you will. And Loratab flavor is disgusting, but a coke will hide it. I dont like giving my child coke, but it got the med down. We struggled with those things.

I know thats gross but it really was pitiful - and that was all down her throat.
We are all better now and I am so thankful.

A sick little Leah
All I can say is I cannot imagine having to go through what some parents must go through with very sick kids. Leah has a little virus that is causing her a lot of pain. It's called the coxsackie virus - or hand foot mouth disease. It's spread kind of like mono and causes bad ulcers all in the mouth, gums, and down her throat along with a never-ending fever. It's very painful and she has been pitiful. She hasn't eaten more than a few bites of anything soft for 5 days. Her doc gave her some lortab to help her sleep but it didn't help too much last night. But this mommy is such a sucker and Leah has been enjoying milkshakes, Popsicles, applesauce, ice-cream, jello, pudding, and a new play doh toy for fun. Oh- and her medicines are hidden in coke. I did buy caffeine free diet coke so maybe thats better. She hasn't eaten much of it but Hannah has liked having it around! It's hard to see my baby so sick but we have had some good snuggle time.

Fast asleep in mommys bed

Many choices of "squishy food" as she calls it

Hannah likes squishy food too!!
The girls have been sharing Popsicles so we are waiting for Hannah to start with the fever. It's been quite a week!

Precious Hannah
While discussing the possibility of going to the park Leah exclaimed "we'll go to the park someday- but I don't want that mean old bee to get my precious Hannah!".

Trip to Destin
For Memorial Day, we went to Destin. This is not something I normally do because I hate the traffic down there at that time but they girls are so much easier now a days, and we dont have to pack nearly as much now that there are so few diapers and they sleep in big beds. So off we went.
We had a blast. My parents have a house with a jacuzzi in the back and thats pretty much where we stayed. Its big enough for the girls to swim pretty well in and its nice to just sit back and relax and let them play. We ventured to the beach once for about 30 minutes but the water had so much seaweed we couldnt get in it. So we left since it was so hot. The girls liked the pool better anyway.
They stayed in the water every minute they were not sleeping or eating. I learned to swim in this jacuzzi when I was their age and they are following suit. They became very comfortable with the water so we bought some goggles which was the best thing we could have done. Leah was diving for toys, and both were kicking across the tub with their faces in. In fact I couldnt get them to come up for air. (Especially Leah). We all had a blast and of course I got some cute pictures. (I took so many though you will have to go to our flickr account to see them all.) www.flickr.com/photos/matthewmccay

The videos were the first and second day they started swimming, and now at the neighborhood pool they are so much better. They try to use their arms now and are actually diving off the side. Since I was such an avid swimmer - I am very proud.

I don't know that word
A few nights ago Leah and I were talking about being obedient, and how it was important to listen to what mommy says. I said "Leah, you have to obey mommy and daddy". Leah responds "Obey? ...I dont know that word"
Then last night (Sunday) she randomly asked me as I was putting the girls to bed:
L: Is it Thursday morning?
Me: No, Its Sunday night. Tomorrow it will be monday morning.
L: Tomorrow? I don't know that word.
Kills me.

IJump adventure
I took the girls to IJump the other day for a fun filled outing with Mommy and Lala. It is a place filled with inflatables and if you go on a Wednesday afternoon its not too crowded.
The girls love jumping on "jumpolines"
Matt and I have been doing Insanity workout (for a while 3 days at that point) and it is just as the name describes. Insane. It is only a 30 minute workout, but think football drills where they are up and down and jumping so much they end up throwing up. It hurts. And I was very sore for our IJump day. I couldnt go up or down a step. Heck I cant even sit on the toilet without holding onto the darn door handle. (TMI, I know).
Anyway, Ijump has one inflatable that Hannah said she wanted to go in. But the entrance is about 3 feet off the ground and once in, you go up this steppy ladder thing and down a slide and then disappear into this maze type obstacle course. So I would have to go in with Hannah or she'd be lost forever.
I tried to lift myself in with my arms, but my arms wouldnt work. I was a little too short to pull myself in. So I tried to finagle a position that would get me in the contraption and not kill my aching muscles in the process.
As I hiked one leg up... higher than I could really do obviously, I heard a RIIIIIIIPPPP. Hannah had been waiting inside the entire time, and now I was in. What ripped? I looked down and my capris (my fav that I have had about 5 years and obviously had been washed 1 too many times) now had a tear in them from the crotch to mid thigh. And I had on zebra undies which I could very much see. Great. We were only 30 minutes into our 2 hour open play time.
Out Hannah and I went as soon as the coast was clear so I could find my sister and think of a solution. She went to find some safety pins at the front desk (who got a good laugh I think). My sis came back with a stapler. oookkk.
So I went to the bathroom, where Hannah followed, to attempt to salvage what was left of these pants at least for the duration of the trip. And of course a lady went in to the bathroom right before us.
I locked Hannah and I up in a stall and pulled down my poor pants to try to make some sort of inseam with staples. Hannah in the mean time is yelling "what you doing Mommy? You need to take off your panties! Dont pee pee in your panties!" (I was sitting on the toilet for support and Yes the lady is still in there hearing all this along with the staples. Who knows what she thought).
I made due with what I had and though you could see a bunch of metal from the front it relatively worked; Albeit uncomfortable. I no longer went up any ladders or tried to climb into any jumpers but the girls had a blast for the rest of the time.
Oh and they finally did get to go through the Maze/Obstacle course one with my sister, who got stuck in there and had a hard time taking 2 toddlers through it. I had to reach over the wall at the end and get the girls because Lala could not get them up the huge "rockwall" ladder to go down the slide. It was funny to watch at least.
Its always an adventure taking kids out.
